Blockhouse & District Fire Department is a volunteer organization that responds to emergencies in the Blockhouse, Maitland and Farmville districts.
Our members respond to medicals, motor vehicle collisions, public assistance and of course fire incident
We are located in the heart of our community at 510 Highway 325. We are footsteps away from the 4 way intersection of Northwest Rd, Cornwall Rd & Highway 325.
Our location provides us quick access to highway 103, fast response times to our mutual aid partners in neighboring districts and towns.
2011 Spartan Furion, 1250gpm pump with 767gal tank.
Seats 6, 4 SCBA seats in rear, officers SCBA located in the side compartment.
401 carries 800′ of 4″ rubber jacket supply hose, 450′ of 2 1/2″ rubber jacket supply/attack hose, 550′ of 1 1/2″ canvas attack hose. Pre-connected attack hose consists of 150′ of 1 1/2″ front bumper well, 2 x 200′ 1 1/2″ cross lays and 350′ x 2 1/2″ rear hose bed.
401 also carries a Zoll AED and back up medical bag
2019 International, 500gpm pump with 1450 gal tank. Seats 3.
402 carries 2 x 1500gal Porta Ponds, 500gpm Honda portable water pump, 350′ of 2 1/2″ canvas supply hose.
2020 Dodge Ram 5500, 500gpm pump with 300gal tank. Seats 5
4 SCBA packs in rear compartments. 800′ of 4″ supply hose, pre-connected attack hose consist of 2 x 200′ 1 1/2″ cross lays.
Vehicle extrication equipment consists of the Amkus IC700 cutters, IS281 spreaders with ERT(extended reach tips), 2 x Holmatro V-struts, 4 x Auto Cribs and an assortment of stabilization blocking.
404 also carries a Zoll AED and back up medical bag

405 responds to medicals carrying a Zoll AED, primary medical bag.
405 is our flexible utility carrying our wildland firefighting and water/ice rescue equipment.
Wildland Gear
4 x Scotty Bravo soft backpack 6gal each, 3 hard shell back cans, assorted hand tools. There are 2 portable pumps, the Wick 100-4hm 4 cycle Fire Pump and a Honda GX20 trash pump. Furman w2100i power inverter.
Water/Ice Rescue
4 – Mustang suits, retractable self rescue ice picks per suit, ropes and rescue slings, NRS ASR155 rescue boat, paddles and 5hp Mercury outboard motor.
The Blockhouse & District Fire Department is led by 9 elected officers. Fire Chief, Deputy Chief 1, Deputy Chief 2, 3 Captains, 2 lieutenants and Chief Engineer.
Blockhouse Fire installed a 19.1kw solar panel system, going online on August 24th 2023.
This system is allowing us here at Blockhouse Fire to do our part in reducing CO2 emissions.
