Fire Department

Frontline Firefighter

The duties of our frontline firefighter is to carry out emergency response operations. This will include interior/exterior fire suppression, wildland firefighting, vehicle extrication and medical first response. Blockhouse Fire provides all training with weekly in house training and NFP Level 1 online training.

Frontline firefighters must be 19 or older, clean criminal background check and vulnerable sector check.

Engineer/Pump Operator

The duties of our engineer/pump operators is to operate the fire trucks. This includes driving safely to and from scenes, training and service appointments and operation of the water pumps on the trucks. The training for this is provided in house, mutual aid training with neighbouring departments and Fire School Pump Operator courses. Class 3 license with air brake endorsement required, department will provide training and cover cost of license upgrade if required. Engineer/Pump operator must be 19 or older, clean criminal background check and vulnerable sector check. Clean driving abstract with No Conditions against the license.

Junior Firefighter

Blockhouse Fire offers a junior firefighting program, our junior range from 14 to 19 years old. As a junior member you will train with our regular members and learn all the required level 1 skills that a Firefighter needs to do the job. The juniors are included in training, meetings and any fundraising activities the department participates in.

The juniors are able to respond to calls at the minimum age of 16, this depends on skill level and type of call, we will not expose any junior member to a hazardous situation.

As a support firefighter you play a valuable role on scenes, everything from traffic control, scene safety, firefighter accountability and Medical First Response.

Training for these positions will be provided by the department or by regulated certified agencies.

Our events

Blockhouse Fire plays host to many community events at our hall.

With a large parking lot and open field Blockhouse Fire can host both indoor and outdoor events.
